5 THINGS TO DO DURING CHETTINAD TOUR

5 THINGS TO DO DURING CHETTINAD TOUR

Pillaiyarpatti:

The Pillaiyarpatti temple was built during the Pandya period. The cave temple is more than 2500 years old. A sculptor named Ekkattur Koon Peruparanan carved the Pillaiyar and a Siva Lingam out of the single stone.

Thirumayam Fort:

The Thirumayam Fort is a 40-acre fortress, built by Vijaya Raghunatha Sethupathi and maintained by hisbrother in law Raghunatha Raya Tondaiman. It was one of major strongholds  of rebel chieftains in the Polygar Wars.

Weaving Center:

Chettinad Sarees are famous at Kanadukathan. The weavers use simple silks, but the art is centuries old and perfected by them. Natural dyed cotton sarees are famous here.

Handmade tiles:

The word Chettinad brings to mind their great Architectural skills. Their exquisite floor tiles are a treat to the eyes. The specialty is that each one of the tiles is handmade. These tiles are exported to countries like Greece, Rome, Belgium, Italy in Europe and all over south East Asia.

Cooking demo:

Chettinad food dishes are world famous now. Any recipe book found on the net or in book stalls  will definitely have Chettinad recipes in it. During your Chettinad tour master chefs  will train you to prepare delicious and mouthwatering Chettinad dishes.

FEEDBACK FROM GUEST - BULLET BAABA [KUMAAR HOLIDAYS]

Hi Everyone, I’m Kannan. I’m a software Engineer from Coimbatore. I was in Jaipur recently on official work. Since I was anyway in Rajasthan, I booked a tour from Kumaar Holidays. When I was on tour, I came across a stunning place.

At Bandai in Jodhpur, there is a shrine (or) temple for motorcycle. Shocking…!

Read on: Om Singh Rathore had a few drinks and was riding home when he hit a tree & died. As what, the local police took the bike to the nearest Police station.

The next day people were shocked to find the bike back at the spot of the accident. The police picked up the bike again & brought it back to the station. This time the fuel was emptied from the tank & the bike was chained to a pillar.

Surprise of surprises, the next day the bike was again found at the scene of the accident. So the motorcycle was left at the spot & the OM BABA TEMPLE (ofBULLET BABA) was built there. It has become a popular temple for those who travel. The shrine is believed to protect travellers.

This is the story of OM BANNA or OM BABA. This was one of the highlights of my tour of Rajasthan. The planning of the tour & response of Kumaar Holidays support Team throughout my holiday was excellent.

Thanks to Kumaar Holidays Team for memorable tour package.
