Balasinor - Dinosaur Tourism..

Tourist Feature : Balasinor.
 ( Also called Vadasinor.)
Attraction : Dinosaur Tourism..
Location : Mahisagar district, Gujarat, India.
History : Former princely state of the Babi dynasty.

During a regular geological survey of a mineral-rich area in the early 1980s, palaeontologists stumbled upon dinosaur bones.Further excavations have revealed a variety ofdinosaur remains—eggs, bones, & also a skeleton,  which has become an exhibit at a museum in Kolkata.

Research now proves that Gujarat is home to one of the largest clutch of dinosaur hatcheries in the world. The soft soil made hatching and protecting eggs easier for the animals. Researchers call them the best-preserved eggs in the world.
This has led to what Gujarat state now calls "Dinosaur Tourism", and the best guide is Princess Aaliya also called the Dinosaur Princess.
At Balasinor, there’s a fossilised dinosaur nesting ground and a prehistoric burial ground.
It is believed that atleast 13species of dinosaurs lived here. Fossils of about 10,000 dinosaur eggs have been recovered here, making Raiyoli village in Balasinor the third largest hatchery in the world.
Part of a limb embeddedin a rock, alleged fossil remains of skin and other bones and egg rings are easily spotted at Balasinor.
The Tyrannosaurus Rex family was discovered here in 2003. It was named Rajasaurusnarmandensis meaning - princely reptile from the Narmada.
